Tene_ zarah: tell masak I got HTTPKKDaemon using parrot sockets... no socat required. will build pastebin during work tomorrow, then commit when I can get to cafe after work 06:08
zarah Consider it noted.
Tene_ zarah: tell masak I am also looking at mod-parrot on apache again 06:10
zarah Consider it noted.
wayland76 Tene++ :) 06:50
eiro hello 08:33
zarah ni hao eiro
wayland76 hi eiro on 3 channels :) 08:44
eiro :)
sharing interests ;) 08:45
i'm thinking about template-toolkit and jemplate
wayland76 I'm more of a HTML::Mason person myself 08:46
Because of the autohandler and dhandler features
eiro i read ejohn.org/blog/javascript-language-abstractions/ and wondering how to deal with javascript properly
zarah eiro's link is also tinyurl.com/5f54wq
eiro frankly: i think that using a hll into a template engine sucks ... because 08:47
- template writers have access to the mechanism
- so they will do things that are not for the template logic 08:48
- you can't share with other programming communauties
- you can't think a langage that is done for output 08:49
wayland76 From your "frankly" comment on, are you still referring to the Javascript, or to HTML::Mason?
eiro HTML::Mason is a php++ for me ... and php sucks
no, no: i talk about mason
wayland76 ok :) 08:50
eiro but it's not a question of design or anything else ... it's just the fact that i want a complete separation between the programmers and the template writers 08:51
and mason don't give me that
wayland76 No, not really, I guess
My plan is to backend all my web-related stuff onto XML somehow (ie. use XML files instead of a database) 08:53
eiro another think that i love with TT2 is that we can port in for other langages. Imagine some projects written in python or ruby or perl sharing templates
you don't like speed ?
wayland76 eiro: Well, that's the downside of the idea :) 08:55
Actually, I don't really care whether it's in XML or not, as long as I can select the data with something like XPath :) 08:56
eiro hehe ... so you need something like zebra 08:58
but it's very hard to configure
wayland76 Why do I need routing software? Or is there another zebra 08:59
?
eiro another pb is that xml is boring to edit. I'm a fan of yaml and i think it could be possible to use xpath to navigate into any kind of datatree
wayland76 Oh, wait, I think I found it...
eiro indexdata.com/zebra/
wayland76 Well, I'm looking at doing a CMS, so it'd be editable through the interface :)
eiro PITA to configure but perfs are awsome 09:00
do you know etna ?
wayland76 Etna is a mountain, somewhere in Italy (I think) 09:01
Or Greece
But that's all I know
eiro etna.disruptive-innovations.com/ 09:03
zarah eiro's link is also tinyurl.com/d4p8fk
wayland76 eiro: I was also looking at Monet at one point
eiro monet ? 09:04
wayland76 Looks kinda cool
eiro the painter ?
anyway: i was working on my own wiki syntax 09:05
wayland76 Sorry, MonetDB
eiro mc.koha-fr.org/mac/tuto/wwk
zarah eiro's link is also tinyurl.com/cooq2t
eiro remove the wwk to see the render
but when i began to write the RFC for a more complete wiki, i seen i need a grammar for it so i decide to learn perl6 before 09:07
wayland76 Oh, ok :)
eiro masak can be interested by this :)
wayland76 It seems most thing I want to do would best be done in perl6 :)
eiro yep
wayland76 I think everyone's at the Oslo hackathon thing

Tene zarah: tell masak to check out the sockets branch in web repo 13:16
zarah Consider it noted.
Tene zarah: thanks
zarah you're welcome, Tene :)

Tene Hmm... need to get POST support... 16:39
also need a pastey name... 16:40
... oops, accidentally committed ot master 17:20
PerlJam Tene: quick! Change history before someone pulls! :) 17:21
Tene Oh, yay, I think I'm making the problem worse! 17:22
... we'll see how badly I screwed the repo up in a bit. :) 17:23
I think I got everything back to normal.
PerlJam pulls the web repo for the first time in a couple of weeks 17:26
Tene I was trying to keep that stuff in a branch until I got review from masak
I migrated HTTP::Daemon to use parrot sockets 17:27
instead of screwing with socat
PerlJam uebercool
I thought mberends had already done that though?
Tene PERL6LIB=./lib perl6 bin/basic-demo.pl
PerlJam or did he just do the parrot sockets part?
Tene not the HTTP::Daemon in the web repository
I think he just made sockets work in Parrot, oslt. 17:28
PerlJam oh, right. I got my repos confused :)
Tene :)
I also didn't see it in use on the perl6-examples repo
wayland76 mberends may also have made it work in rakudo 17:31
Tene I didn't see a Socket class there. 17:32
in HTTP::Daemon, I just used a little bit of inline PIR.
wayland76 Not as a class. Maybe there was nothing to do in Rakudo :), in which case, I'm wrong
Tene I'll get a real socket class eventually.
But it works fine in rakudo currently. 17:33
bbl teaching, maybe...
these students aren't very interested in this last chapter. 17:34
wayland76 Tell them you will sing to them if they don't know it :) 17:35
Tene It's just on topics they don't use at work. They wanted to leave early instead. 18:03
wayland76 Ah. That doesn't help :) 18:08

omega I'm trying to get november (and as a dep html-template) to run, but I get the following error trying to make html-template: pastie.org/449183 21:51
wayland76 I'd say that if you see Carl Masak, ask him 22:05
He may not be the right person, but he'll know who is.
