lichtkind masak: hai hai 10:53
masak lichtkind: hai there. long time no see. 10:54
zarah masak: You have new messages. Write '/msg zarah @messages' to read them.
lichtkind masak: yes had double, triple workload than usual, halliday and so 10:55
masak ok.
lichtkind masak: but im i the road again, checked the wiki changes and now written another perl article preparing a 2 day workshop(all wxperl) but slowly i get things done 10:56
masak: i think first i will finish november content 10:57
masak: did you anything on it lately?
masak unfortunately not.
still working mostly on Web.pm
lichtkind and how is progress with that? 10:58
masak but November (the month) is approaching, and then I will surely turn my attention to November (the wiki)
progress on Web.pm is gradual but promising.
lichtkind is rakudo * on track? 11:00
masak: i try to catch up reading blogs but happened somthing greater to perl 6 or rakudo? 11:08
masak in the past month? 11:12
well, right now what's happening is that pmichaud is working on a PGE rewrite.
we're all pretty excited about that, I think.
jnthn is on vacation, but stopping by now and then to tell us how tasty Korean food is. 11:13
he'll be back next week.
mberends and I are planning a coup d'etat for the Temporal spec, where we simultaneously evolve the spec, the spectests and Rakudo, to minimize bikeshedding.
I think the question 'is Rakudo * on track?' is a very vague one. pmichaud might know more details, though. 11:14
I'd say we're still far enough off that nothing has slipped yet. but all helping hands are welcome, of course. 11:15
I'm having some loose plans for how to get work on u4x flowing.
lichtkind what is bikeshedding ? 11:16
masak: and why needed PGE to be rewritten
masak 'bikeshedding' is a traditional term for endless discussions on details. 11:17
pmichaud originally only planned to extend PGE, not rewrite it.
but it seems he got more and more ideas that eventually led him to rewrite it.
two fallouts from the rewrite will be protoregexes and variable interpolation, as I understand it. 11:18
hopefully also regex tracing.
lichtkind masak: whats that? 11:22
masak emitting debug messages while going through the regex motions.
I first saw it in TheDamian's talk on Regexp::Grammars at YAPC::EU 11:23
lichtkind you mean that will be helpfull?
masak lichtkind: yes. example: I'd like to build a web application which shows exactly which parts of a given grammar matched a given string. 11:29
with the proposed tracing API, I could do that.
lichtkind cool 11:31
masak oh, and another thing: I proposed building a piece of vapourware, which became wildly popular. you can read about it here: use.perl.org/~masak/journal/39639 11:41
zarah masak's link is also tinyurl.com/lc4dvu
masak zarah: thanks
zarah masak: no, YOU'RE the cute one! :)
masak :)
lichtkind masak: zahahs is well trained 11:56
masak she's the nicest bot I know.
lichtkind masak: btw did you know that jesus doughter name was sarah?
masak no.
lichtkind masak: of course pope would never admit but its widely known :) 11:57

lichtkind ruoso: hai 12:12
masak: thanks willr ead that
wayland76 Widely known to have no supporting evidence, from what Google tells me, unless you count someone who thinks she's the reincarnated version 13:07
masak I'm glad someone else decided to reply to that. 13:12
frankly, it feels neither relevant or interesting to me.

Tene hi 18:29
zarah hi Tene
lichtkind Tene: im just back after some week anbd want know what happend (yes i read blogs) 18:30
Tene what happened with what? 18:33
lichtkind Tene: perl 6 developement 18:34
Tene Ah, um... dunno. >.>
pmichaud is working on his new grammar engine 18:35
lichtkind Tene: that i heard , he rewrites pge, but i asked more about what your involved in :)
Tene lots of work on parrot infrastructure; not so much on Rakudo
Oh, me?
I've been working on plumage, mainly.
The module repo for Parrot.
I got some SQL libs working for masak to use in his ORM 18:36
Need to get them installable from plumage, 'cos all unnecessary libs need ot be out of the Parrot repo real soon now 18:37
lichtkind Tene: so plumage is something different than cpan6 18:40
Tene It's... well... 18:41
There's been a lot of talk, and I mean a *lot* of talk, over the years about different module systems and cpan6 anc 6pan and other acronyms and bar bar bar bar bar
plumage is "Okay, let's stop talking and actually *implement* something, dammit" 18:42
It's going to be at least the module installation utility for Parrot.
Other HLLs might or might not implement their own separate systems for hll libs. 18:43
I don't know if plumage aspires to include HLL libs or not, but I suspect it does.
lichtkind Tene: sound great, i supposed to be something like that, but a thought 6pan had extensive implementation since years 19:18
but its your turn anyway
Tene: thanks a lot for the answers 19:25
Tene: i just want to keep on writing in novemnber
Tene lichtkind: looks like plumage would be used to install rakudo itself, but not perl 6 modules. 19:54
lichtkind: I've never seen 6pan, or seen rakudo people talk about it, or use it.
lichtkind Tene: yeah its from overmeer but he ahs very outreaching plans and fiddeling since years on it with all needs of parrot in mind from the start 19:55
Tene: will go to bed seeya 19:57
goodnight
