alester rurban++ 15:38
rurban just nitpicking 15:39
alester It's not nitpicking!
Shutting up the warning without thinking about it goes against why they are there.
Adding a type cast to "i = charptr" will shut up the compiler, too, but you shoudln't. 15:40
rurban I'm rather happy that ./p2 --inpect -e'%ENV' works now, all vars are objects = closures = react to messages (smalltalk) 15:41

masak Parrot release today? 18:45
dalek kudo/nom: 4f255fa | (Carl Mäsak)++ | docs/release_guide.pod:
Toto, I don't think we're in 2012 any more
18:46
dukeleto nobody signed up to release 5.3.0 today 19:34
blarg
Tene I think I signed up for a release once years ago that I didn't do... 19:35
dukeleto Tene: YOUR IT 19:36
Tene: :)
Tene: it would be greatly appreciated
Tene: i am unable 19:37
Tene: do you have access to the OSL server?
Tene: if you get stuck on a part where you don't have access, i can help
Tene dukeleto: As far as I can remember, I've never had access to the OSL server, and I've never done a release.
Also, I can't do anything until I get home from work, in about five hours.
dukeleto Tene: that is fine 19:38
Tene: if you can do it later, please send an email to parrot-dev and /cc cotto that you are volunteering for the 5.3.0 release
Tene: so nobody steals it from you :)
Tene We'll see how my evening goes. 19:39
dukeleto Tene: please say you are going to do it and notify others, or I will continue searching for somebody
Tene: a "maybe" that stops us from finding somebody is not that helpful :) 19:40
Tene Ah, I wasn't very clear. No, I'm not willing to commit right now.
Util says "ackkk! It's the third Tuesday!", and volunteers. 19:44
Tene, you are off the hook this time, but please consider volunteering for next month! 19:45
Tene Util: Speaking historically, I have a very low rate of following through on things like that; if I'm not at the keyboard ready to do it at the time, it's not worth the chance of someone more reliable volunteering. 19:47
dukeleto Util: you are volunteering? 19:48
Util dukeleto: Yes, I am starting now. 19:49
dukeleto Util++
Util: do you want me to email parrot-dev or are you on that?
Util dukeleto: Please send the email. 19:51
dukeleto Util: on it!
Tene Util: If you want "Yeah, maybe I can do it if someone reminds me and I'm not feeling shitty that day", let me know, but otherwise I'd advise against relying on me. 19:52
Util Tene: Understood. 19:53

dukeleto gtodd: welcome 20:00
Util dukeleto: Thanks for the email and RMG update. 20:02
Any requests for release name? 20:03
dukeleto Util: oooooooh 20:05
Util: do you have any inspirational forces?
Util: are you going for the zombie theme, or perhaps something new? 20:06
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_birds 20:07
Util I was thinking Summer this time, in honor of our GSoC acceptance. Hippies or 60's would also be relevant, given GSoC being a take-off of the Summer of Love.
dukeleto Util: i like it
Util afk 20 minutes 20:10
gtodd thank you 20:19
masak Parrot Woodstock. 20:20
gtodd dukeleto: I like the use of real bird names mixed with Hippie naming
perhaps parrot names 20:21
EoL.org lists many parrot names ... eol.org/pages/1590/names 20:24
dukeleto Util: Wailing Woodstock
gtodd: are you a prospective gsoc student? 20:25
gtodd no :)
dukeleto gtodd: just wondering
masak Util: Polly Wants a Magic Cookie
dukeleto or maybe "Chromatic's Delight" 20:26
Util: ^^^
gtodd I liked the parrot star database example coolnamehere.com/geekery/parrot/learn/ perhaps star names :)
dukeleto gtodd: that is one of the best parrot tutorials 20:27
gtodd perhaps Chromatic will delight again one day
dukeleto gtodd: made by this cool dude: twitter.com/brianwisti
gtodd the new focus on improving parrot "support" of nqp and rakudo might be what makes parrot cool again ... that and the ability to run javascript :-D 20:28
gtodd lurks
dukeleto: definitely an excellent tutorial 20:30

Util Fine suggestions! You have all inspired me to: 21:01
"W00tstock Parrot"
(Woodstock updated to geekery [really! see w00tstock.net], similar to SoL updated to GSoC) 21:02
probably with a epigram of the last stanza of Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock".
(though I am actually playing the W00tstock song by Mike Phirman as I work) 21:03
masak "W00t" reminds me of the Pugs days :) 21:15
