jjuran With respect to I/O of entire file contents, what is the inverse of 'slurp'? 07:30
cognominal last line to the first? cuz last char to the first does not make sense to me. Not that I have an answer 07:36
jjuran No, given a byte stream in memory and a file handle, write the entire stream out to the file. 07:38
I'm wondering if there's a canonical term. I came up with 'spray'.
Infinoid flush? 07:41
purl it has been said that flush is $=$$;
jjuran Hmmm. 'Flush' tends to refer to writes that have already been issued, but not completed. 07:44
Infinoid true. but it still makes more sense to me than spray, sorry :) 07:47
jjuran How about spew? :-) 07:48
Infinoid that works!
hwarf
its unconventional, but does have connotations of fully formed output 07:50
don't mind me, I'm up too late. goodnight!
jjuran LOL

bgeron is images.use.perl.org/topics/parrot.gif the official Parrot logo? 13:52
bgeron tries packaging for zeroinstall
Infinoid I don't think so 13:54
svn.perl.org/parrot/trunk/examples/..._small.png
bgeron hmm okay 13:55
Infinoid that's used by examples/sdl/bounce_parrot_logo.pir and its officialness is strongly implied
bgeron was thinking of using only the parrot, but better have this if it's official
Infinoid I don't know if its official, but it is used by parrotcode.org's favicon 13:58
bgeron I'll try and see if it's still recognizable after scaling 13:59
davidfetter has anybody copyrighted "the parrot in association with parrot?"
davidfetter recalls some major hassle around "the camel in association with perl." :P
bgeron I can't svn-checkout svn.perl.org/perl.org/docs/live/parrotcode/ (the web site repos), does anyone know more about it?
guest/guest login fails 14:01
Infinoid www.parrotcode.org/images/parrot.small.png looks familiar 14:02
bgeron yes, but it's so small :( 14:03
oh, that one o:)
Infinoid and there was also apparently a t-shirt made... images.cafepress.com/product/312507..._Front.jpg
shorten Infinoid's url is at xrl.us/bh49m
bgeron those smalls are the same image 14:04
Infinoid ack doesn't report anything else logo-related in that repository.
bgeron I'll just use www.parrotcode.org/images/parrot.small.png :)

jonathan hi all 14:43
kj hi jonathan
jonathan Am making my return to the Parrot and Rakudo world at last.
davidfetter wb!
jonathan First job: reviewing cognominal++'s Rakudo patch... 14:44
davidfetter rakudo? 14:48
purl rakudo is The Way Of The Camel. or having some failing tests as of 22JAN08 or Gotta Catch 'Em All or in languages/perl6 (see parrotvm.org/svn/parrot/browse/trun...ges/perl6) or use.perl.org/~pmichaud/journal/35400 or rakudo.org or camel toe
jonathan Rakudo = name for Perl 6 on Parrot 14:51
davidfetter ah
jonathan Though I managed to mis-spell it on my first few check-ins.
davidfetter heh

cognominal thx jonathan, I will have a patch more correct because :a is not a => True but :a(1) 18:26
what are you working on so I don't trip too much on what you do?

jonathan cognominal: I'm looking at pairs bit of your patch at the moment. 18:31
I've tidied up your .perl implementation a bit.
Not sure they should stringify like they .perl, but can't see anything in the spec saying what should happen - did you find something? 18:32
Writing a mail as I work through the patch, anyway.
cognominal I did not found anything, also I don't know if one .perl should say Bool::True (like pugs I thik) or True 18:36
jonathan Bool::True, I think.

jonathan is going to be at the Oslo QA Hackathon. 22:28
Because I haven't been to a Perl event in almost a month, and I'll miss all the May ones because I'm off to wander around the Middle East. 22:30
jrt4 What is resume_offset for in struct parrot_interp_t? And what exactly do the RESUME_INITIAL and RESUME_RESTART flags mean? 22:31
I've been digging around in the docs / sources related to continuations / exceptions, which seems to be the right area, but I can't find a clear answer ... 22:32
jonathan jrt4: I think it just tells the interpreter, when you enter a run-loop, where to start executing code. 22:43
I think it is mostly useful when you fall out of one runloop and need to enter another, or something along those lines... 22:45
Especially in branches that cross the run-loop boundary. 22:46
See for example Parrot_branch_cs_sc (opcode_t *cur_opcode, PARROT_INTERP) {
jonathan heads off for the evening 22:47
jrt4 OK, thank you. So it's for things like JIT? 22:48
jonathan I think, runloops in general.
But I'd imagine if you need to exit the JIT to hit some un-JITted code or something, yeah. 22:49
jrt4 Got it. Thanks again :)
jonathan Or code that is on another runloop generally.
Applies to the slow core too, etc.
Welcome.
purl Heh, not likely around here you won't be.
jonathan sticks a gnome up purl's butt 22:50

cognominal jonathan, will you be able to make it for conferences.mongueurs.net/fpw2008/ 22:54
