eternaleye Hi, sorry if this is the wrong place to bring this up, but I keep getting the error "gcc: src/install_config.o: No such file or directory" when running "make installable" on 0.7.0. Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround? 06:01
I'm trying to make an updated ebuild for Gentoo (the latest is 0.6.1). I was using the world target, which compiled fine, but the languages didn't get installed. I was hoping the installable target would fix that, but it fails to compile. 06:02

masak #58392 is affecting the new HTML::Template pretty badly right now. if anyone with sufficient Parrot-fu has tuits to look at it, that would be much appreciated. 11:07

moritz how the heck can I post a comment on perlbuzz.com? 19:57
it rejects my comment because I'm not registered, but I don't see any log-in link
Andy Hmm 20:00
You have to..
um.
moritz I used to be logged in with an openid account 20:01
Andy so here
perlbuzz.com/2008/08/richard-dice-t...press.html
moritz and now that seems to have expired
Andy you don't see a "SIgn in to comment on entyr"?
what's your openid ID
moritz Andy: no, nothing 20:02
getopenid.com/moritz
Andy lemme look
I don't see any moritz anything. 20:03
moritz tried to comment on perlbuzz.com/2008/08/great-results-...l#comments 20:04
Andy do you see patrick's comment?
moritz yes
Andy go clear your perlbuzz cookies. 20:05
It must be thinking you're logged in or something.
I'm sorry this is happneing
moritz I don't have no perlbuzz cookies 20:06
Andy look at the source
moritz wait, do I need javascript?
Andy Maybe something is CSS wrong
AHA
yes.
moritz maybe add a noscript tag? ;-)
Your comment has been received and held for approval by the blog owner. 20:07
Andy ta-da 20:08
moritz isn't it a bit paranoid to require both sign in and approval?
Andy $ task add pro:perlbuzz pri:M Add a noscript tag for people w/o JavaScript turned on.
moritz: Clearly I do not think that that is the case. 20:09
It's not a matter of paranoia. It's a matter of dealing w/bots.
moritz I wouldn't expect so many bots to log in, but then again my blogs have lot less visibility than perlbuzz
Andy I've now published both of your comments. 20:10
and I can go OK your account as one that doesn't need approval.
moritz that's nice
Andy ok, you're now trusted.
thanks for posting. Sorry about the hassle. 20:11
moritz yw, np ;-)
Andy and that also validates you for: Mechanix, rakudo.org and theworkinggeek.com 20:13
moritz just for comments, or also for blog posts?
Andy comments 20:15
purl A TRUE Klingon Warrior does not comment his code!
Andy but if you have need to post blog stuff to rakudo.org, let me know.
moritz not yet ;)

moritz this is the right place ot ask, but usually it's very quiet here during weekends 20:52
maybe send a mail to the list, if you didn't already?
eternaleye moritz: Thanks, I didn't think of that. I'll probably use the newsgroup, since I already have it in my newsreader. 20:53
moritz eternaleye: I think newsgroup and mailing list are aliased (at least that's how p5p is handled) 20:55
eternaleye Cool. Thanks again! 20:56

bacek morning everyone 21:30
moritz hi 21:31
purl hola, moritz.
bacek moritz: how is going? 21:33
bacek bought new laptop for birthday.
No I can compile parrot/rakudo much faster ;)
s/No/Now/ 21:34
moritz bacek: I assume you use ccache already, and make -j2 or whatever?
anyway, happy birthday bacek ;)
bacek moritz: thanks ;)
-j3. It's core2duo
real\t2m4.847s 21:37
Compile parrot from scratch. Not so bad. 21:38
moritz indeed
now we need a compiler cache for pmc2c and the like ;)
bacek No, we just need fully implemented, bug-free parrot which doesn't require recompiling ;) 21:40
moritz there's always room for improving software ;) 21:41
bacek perl7 will be so perfect, so it will not needed to improve ;) 21:43
moritz perl 7 will write itself
it guesses what kind of program you want to write, and writes it for you before you have a chance to touch the keyboard 21:44
bacek Ok. I feel myself like I'm 20 again and it's time to bring kids to school, self to $dayjob. 21:46
0x20 actually ;)
moritz minor difference ;) 21:47
Whiteknight what is a protoregex 22:03
moritz Whiteknight: a proto is a common name of multis
Whiteknight so what does it do? I see it a lot in the documentation
moritz Whiteknight: so you can write multi regex foo:sym<x> { ... }; multi regex foo:sym<y> { .... }
and then <foo> will match <foo: first multi> | <foo: second multi> 22:04
and instead of writing a "multi" in fron of every regex, you can write proto regex foo { ... }; # literal ... here; regex foo { ... } 22:05
Whiteknight: maybe you're interested in perlgeek.de/en/article/mutable-gram...for-perl-6
it's an article I wrote when somebody on #perl6 asked "why is this longest token matching so important?" 22:06
22:06 paco joined
Whiteknight that's moritz. This article is very helpful 22:07
moritz thanks ;) 22:08
cognominal moritz, where is the code for the perl6 beautifier? 22:15
moritz cognominal: you mean syntax hilighting? 22:18
svn.pugscode.org/pugs/util/perl6.vim + Text::VimColor ;-) 22:19
actually I'd like to get a syntax hilighter out of STD.pm, but so far I've been to dumb to achieve that :/
cognominal ho you cheater :) 22:20
moritz other people would call that a "hack", not a "cheat" ;)
cognominal I always see the bottle half empty.
bacek moritz: :TOhtml
moritz anyway, it was one of the reasons I decided to write my own offline cms - I wanted a better syntax hiligher than any other I knew of could offer 22:21
bacek: maybe Text::VimColor uses that internall, but that output is quite ugly if I remeber correctly 22:22
all-caps html tags etc
not appropriate for my otherwise strict xhtml-1.0 page ;)
bacek moritz: no. <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> 22:23
but with embedded font, etc...
moritz yes
there's a hell lot difference between html 4 loose and xhtml 1.0 strict ;) 22:24
