alvis I am unavailable for #ps today: 11/22/11. (Traveling to Ft. Worth, TX) 18:56
What I did:
* Moved 'docs/' to github pages
* Posted blog about the above
* Mailed parrot-dev, asking for input on organization of Developer & User Manuals
* Signed up as GCI mentor (I think/hope/perhaps) 18:57
* Gist of GCI Tasks
* Diff'd of Squaak Tutorial and PCT_Tutorial to see which is newer
What I'm working on:
* Templates/formats for READMEs and *.pods for binaries (GCI related)
* Continued revision of './README' (converting to '*.pod', plus corrections)
* Reviewing procedure to automate conversion of docs for release cycles
* Reviewing 'tools/dev/make_html_docs.pl' for updates 18:58
What I will do:
* Complete 'working on' items above
* Complete *.pod file for the parrot binary
* Add a section to 'index.html' about languages, i.e., winxed and nqp-rx

whiteknight WHAT I DID: 19:35
* GCI is off to a great start already. I've been creating tasks as quickly as I can think of them. We have 28 tasks in the queue right now, I'm hoping to have at least 50 in the queue before the deadline on the 28th.
* Most tasks so far are Rosella-related or Documentation-related (alvis++ for enumerating these for me). We want more tasks from more parts of the ecosystem. Any ideas, any at all, are appreciated.
* I rewrote the Rosella Event library, with support for new green threads.
* I finished a rewrite of the Rosella Container library to add lots of new features and cleaner code.
* Following along with NotFound++'s work to add inlining to Winxed. Very excited about that.
* Still working to port alarms to Windows to add green_threads there. If anybody has access to a windows development machine and would like to be frustrated by this problem, let me know.
WHAT I WILL DO:
* Fill out more GCI tasks. I'll be mining Rosella, Jaesop and Winxed for ideas. I'll also be digging through the Parrot repo and ticket queues for more ideas.
* Work on some documentation and code examples needed for GCI students to follow.
* Keep working on porting alarms to windows.
* More miscellaneous Rosella work.

dukeleto hello? 19:48
whiteknight hello!
dukeleto is this on?
NotFound Forgot the report, will do after.
cotto How did this week go? 19:49
whiteknight good. GCI is off to a good start
a little bumpy, but google extended the initial task deadline and we're moving forward pretty quick
dukeleto yes, we have a bunch of gci tasks being worked on. whiteknight++ for adding lots more
cotto We can expect it to be pretty experimental.
NotFound They already helped locate two winxed bugs. 19:50
cotto It's great to see some old faces.
or nicks, as it were
whiteknight We have a Timsort implementation in winxed that I want to start playing with
cotto Tim would be proud.
whiteknight I've been wanting an implementation of that for a while, and Yuki'N whips it out in a few hours 19:51
So things are going very well 19:53
NotFound Possible interesting for people making public presentations of parrot: I've added a bit more visual candy to examples/fly 19:55
whiteknight NotFound: Yes, I've seen your commits. I need to test it
NotFound The changes are subtle, but effective. 19:56
cotto NotFound: good marketing.
whiteknight I probably need to reinstall opengl
NotFound Also, now uses a real derivative, so mathematics will be less ofended. 19:57
dukeleto NotFound++ 19:58
NotFound: forward, central, or backward difference ? 19:59
NotFound: or are you doing the derivative analytically?
whiteknight well look at you, mr math man with your fancy terms and learnin' 20:01
NotFound dukeleto: the angle of the wagons is the tangent to the circuit. Previously I used a horrible approximation, now the derivative of the parametric curve.
Not calculated by the program, hand written in the code. 20:02
Funny fact: I was doing it that way because I wasn't able to fix the problems with the derivative. Now I discovered that the problem was in the web site I used to calculate it. 20:04
Yes, my bad for being lazy. 20:05
whiteknight websites--
NotFound You can also have fun looking at the trick used to keep constant the distance between wagons in spite of the varying radius of the circuit. 20:08
cotto Are there any questions? 20:12
whiteknight not a question, more of a plea: We need lots more tasks for GCI
if anybody has any ideas, even bad ideas, tell me 20:13
dukeleto i have lots of bad ideas
cotto seatbelts for squids
I'll try to find some less bad ideas too. 20:14
whiteknight awesome. The more the merrier
What I don't want to have happen is the last few weeks of the program we have to sit on our hands because we've been cleaned out
that would be a huge waste of resources 20:15
but, that's it from me. 20:18
