cotto hello 19:32

benabik hi 19:33
cotto It's been too quiet recently. We need to start moving wrt getting 6model into core. 19:37
benabik +1
I'm a big fan of grabbing many things from NQP into core.
It's the largest compiler project we have, so things that it finds useful are things we should really look at integrating. (6model, dyncall, and the radix op all come to mind) 19:38
cotto also, +1 to moving dyncall into Parrot if someone would like to take that on
I guess step 0 would be a coherent plan for 6model. 19:39
or at least a metaplan
I'll make that my thing for the week. 19:40
any comments or questions? 19:41
benabik I've looked at it for a while, so I have some idea of how it works... Obviously jnthn's more knowledgeable, but I can try to help.
cotto It's open source and the #perl6 folks are friendly. 19:42
moritz jnthn and not_gerd had some discussions about it yesterday, iirc
cotto moritz: interesting. do you have a link?
moritz cotto: I can dig up some
benabik not_gerd posted a gist...
cotto moritz: thanks 19:43
moritz gist.github.com/1751167
and the discussion starts at irclog.perlgeek.de/perl6/2012-02-06#i_5109668 and continues fragmented throughout the day
benabik It seemed a little overly complicated at first glance. But it's more than I've done, so I can't knock it too much. 19:44
cotto I look forward to digging into that gist, the discussion and 6model in general after $dayjob. 19:45

not_gerd++ jnthn++
anything else need discussion? 19:46
benabik I was working on #346 and hit an issue... 19:47
cotto benabik: what issue?
benabik Namely, there are a lot of options listed in --help and docs/running.pod for IMCC that appear to not be hooked up to anything.
--imcc-debug, --verbose, --optimize, --yydebug 19:48
cotto --optimize is (iirc) extravagantly broken and has been for a long time
benabik (Also, if anyone wants to look at/help out I'm working on the gh346 branch)
cotto deleting things is sometimes an acceptable solution
benabik Should all of them be deleted since they don't do anything? 19:49
cotto benabik: can you list them in the issue? They can probably go away, but we should have another pair of eyeballs on them first. 19:50
benabik List them in #346 (test all parrot command line flags), or open a new one?
cotto in the existing issue
346
benabik I'm also not sure how to test some of them (mostly library paths). But I'm trying for as many as I can get in my "copious spare time". 19:51
cotto much appreciated
benabik I figured the tests would be useful since we hit memory corruption with "parrot --output foo.pbc foo.pir" 19:52
cotto I'll keep an eye on that issue and help as I'm able. 19:54
benabik Thanks. :-)
cotto Any other quesions?
moritz for Rakudo I want a more reliable file move operation 19:55
parrot just has 'rename', which doesn't work across file system boundaries
any chances that somebody implements it if I open a TODO ticket? 19:56
cotto superficially, that doesn't sound too scary
so yes 19:57
moritz ok, I'll open the ticket
cotto it's looking to be an interesting week 19:58
any last things before we call it a wrap? 19:59
Let's call it a wrap then. 20:01
moritz likes wraps.
moritz waves
20:01 moritz left
benabik Make mine a tuna on whole wheat. 20:01
cotto You have to say "sudo".
