| # Done: | |||
| * Added trailing semicolons where needed. (because it was bugging me) | |||
| # Doing: | |||
| * Multiple fixes to the Release Manager's Guide | |||
| * Fixing the .is-prime problem in Rakudo & NQP. | |||
| = rt.perl.org/rt3/Ticket/Display.html?id=117731 | |||
| * Volunteering for the next 3 months of Release Manager duty. | |||
| = To be pre-empted by anyone else willing to take a turn in this simple-yet-time-consuming job. | |||
| # Happenings: | |||
| * I am the backup GSoC administrator, and will be serving as primary while dukeleto is AFK (through May 6th) | 19:29 | ||
| * The member vote on the transfer of Parrot Foundation to The Perl Foundation closes today, so we will have a decision soon. | |||
| * Please edit the wiki page if you think you will attend the Hackathon at YAPC::NA::2013 | |||
| = www.yapcna.org/yn2013/wiki?node=Hackathons | |||
| * We recently restarted these meetings, and attendance rapidly fell off. I recommend that we try again, both to have a place for GSoC status meetings, and to firm-up some discussions that will be best be finished at face-to-face at YAPC&Hackathon. | |||
| = I did not say that nearly early enough in the week. | |||
| = If you are reading this anytime the rest of this week, please tell us, as a post-report in this channel: | |||
| + What you have done on Parrot in the last month, *even* if it was *nothing*, so we get a sense of who is listening. | |||
| + Whether you would attend the revived weekly meeting, if other contributors started attending again. | |||

| Hello | 19:31 | ||
| PerlJam | Util: I've done nothing. :) The only reason I'm paying attention to you is that I'm still on this channel and your text reminded me that it's still "alive" :-) | 19:33 | |
| Coke | the vote you're talking about is already obsoleted, aye? | ||
| Util | Coke: Yes, I suppose it was subsumed into email discussion by Allison, but this will be confirmation. | 19:34 | |
| PerlJam: Thanks for that update :) | 19:35 | ||
| sa1 | Hello, you people can read my proposal and comment on it. gist.github.com/sa1/5468408 | ||
| I don't have much left to do till dukeleto comes back. | 19:36 | ||
| PerlJam | sa1: reading | ||
| allison | Coke: I left the original vote running out of curiousity | 19:37 | |
| PerlJam | allison: how is it leaning? | ||
| Coke | sa1++ | ||
| allison | Coke: I suspect the original vote passed, in which case a revote is largely irrelevant, but good for the sake of form | ||
| PerlJam: I haven't looked, I don't think it lets me see results until I close the poll | 19:38 | ||
| PerlJam | oh | ||
| Util | sa1: While dukeleto will certainly be needed for your project, the rest of us can read your gist and possibly give early feedback. | ||
| sa1++ | |||
| sa1 | right, feedback is welcome :) | 19:39 | |
| PerlJam | sa1: btw, surely you've already started the "familiarization period"? :) | ||
| sa1 | PerlJam: It's ongoing, but yeah, Google marks that as the familiarization period. :) | 19:40 | |
| PerlJam | sa1: were it me, I would move the build system stuff earlier in the project to make it easier for others to participate. | 19:42 | |
| sa1: part of the gsoc (to me) is about community building too (i.e., you don't have to do all of the work yourself if you can make it such that it's easier for others to do some of the work) | |||
| sa1 | Hmm, I kept it there because I would already have some experience adding stuff to the setup.winxed file by then and also because it will be a break from other work. But I can move it forward. | 19:43 | |
| PerlJam | sa1: use your own best judgement, I'm just one guy :) | 19:44 | |
| sa1: Also, for Aug 12 you say "several Parrot languages". I'd be more specific about which ones. | |||
| sa1 | I actually have very little to go on as to how to best schedule the project. | ||
| Right, I was aiming at winxed, NQP and eventually Perl6 for now. | 19:45 | ||
| PerlJam | sa1: I dunno how doable it is, but your schedule looks reasonable in form and content to me. | 19:46 | |
| sa1 | PerlJam: thanks :) It will get moved around both before coding starts and after it. | 19:48 | |
| Util | Regarding the renewed meetings: | 19:49 | |
| Some of our contributors have lost interest. Others have just lost momentum, and several have just hit busy parts of their lives. | 19:50 | ||
| For those last 2 groups, I hope that we can help renew momentum, and provide an environment robust enough to bring back the busy, when their lives get more calm. | |||
| For example, there were several efforts to trim fat from Parrot in the last few months. If those branches could be spoken-to by their authors (inactive or otherwise), those of us currently active might move them forward, or test them, or benchmark them against "full-fat" Parrot, or even "land" the branches. | |||
| We have gradually slid from goals and milestones into everyone "doing your own thing". | 19:52 | ||
| DYOT *can* be viable, it only works long-term when everyone is public and vocal about their plans and activities, so that feedback moves some people away from less fruitful efforts, and onto helping with more fruitful (or more tuit-needy) endeavors. | |||
| A return to real project management would be helpful, but that requires volunteer effort that (I think) is not currently available. | 19:53 | ||

| Util | This has been the most verbose 30 minutes of #ps in quite a while. | 20:00 | |
| (Logs are down right now, so I can't do better than "a while") | |||
| Meeting adjourned. | |||
| Please see my earlier request for post-reports during the coming week. Thanks to all! | |||
