plobsing_ What I Did: 17:16
* discussion on list re: NCI improvements 17:17
* created shallow_clone branch to try out shallow cloning. Doesn't break anything AFAICT, but no big speedup.
* created no_pmc_install branch to eliminate .pmc files from installation. All major HLLs build against it.
* small NCI improvements
What I Plan:
* merge no_pmc_install branch later today
* merge shallow_clone branch later this week
* more discussion of NCI improvements (where's the best place to do this? on list? wiki? ticket?)
* start working towards discussed NCI improvements 17:18

.
quite ready to merge back to trunk yet, but close.
mikehh What I did since my last report: 17:59
* missed a couple of reports and #ps last week due to pressure of $work
* building and testing parrot on amd64/i386, with gcc/g++
* branch testing
* got trunk to pass tests after merge of PCC branch
* had to modify TODO to SKIP in 2 tests which hang in testr (TT #1172)
What I intend to do in the next week:
* testing and fixing
* looking at cleaning up some tests
* documentation
.eor
cotto_work #did: 18:28

chromatic Let's review last week.
Good news on the PCC hackathon branch; it merged. 19:39
cotto_work chromatic, I think you're early
KosherCoke chromatic: you're an hour early.

chromatic I merged the PCC branch, after bacek and I and others made it mergeable. 19:42
I poked at a few optimizations, and I have a plan for improving constant STRING handling we should be able to finish in a week. 19:43
I have another plan for improving how we handle call signatures that should be a small improvement.
Otherwise, I'll help whiteknight poke at TT #389.

chromatic Hello, everyone. 20:31
NotFound Hola
mikehh hi there
cotto_work hi 20:32
chromatic Let's review last week's goals.
PCC refactor merged. There are a couple of bugs, but we'll get them.
bacek # Did 20:33
* Helped PCC branch little bit.
* Made patch for rakudo to build with new PCC.
* Some random fixes.
# Todo
chromatic compact_pool shenanigans not fixed. I have one quick idea, but fear it'll be harder. 20:34
HLL bugs not fixed. They're not easy.
bacek What blocking #389? Second to last allison's comment looks reasonably detailed.
Util_ q1q
chromatic whiteknight worked on that; he ran into trouble, but I didn't see the current progress. If you want to look at it bacek, I'm sure it'd be welcome. 20:35
mikehh I get all test passing at the moment - had to change a TODO to SKIP on TT #1172
thats on t/op/exceptions.t 20:36
chromatic compact_pool probably should remain our top priority. If I don't have a brilliant fix in a couple of hours, we need to jump on that one. whiteknight made a branch. 20:37
mikehh and t/pmc/exception-old.t
dukeleto 'ello 20:38
chromatic Other priorities for this week?
No suggestions? 20:40
Okay, let's go to questions. 20:41
Util_?
Util_ A) Our Coverity runs stopped one month ago. Should I prod them directly, or go through petdance? Or is chromatic already on the case? 20:42
B) What needs to be done to move us to Rung 3, and turn on those extra Coverity scanners? We look close to me.
chromatic If you prod David Maxwell directly, he's quick to respond. You can CC me if you like. 20:43
We should have closed all outstanding issues, which should be enough to move us to Rung 3.
Util_ Will email dmaxwell, and also mention rung3. Thanks! EOQ
chromatic plobsing had a question about NCI improvements. Where's the best place to discuss them? 20:44
mikehh q2q 20:47
chromatic No preference for that. Okay.
mikehh, go.
mikehh 11) what is the status with regard to rakudo * 20:48
one 1 :-}
chromatic Still Q2 2010, probably not late April.
mikehh any blockers from parrot? 20:49
chromatic compact_pool is the only one I know of at the moment. 20:50
Otherwise, the more speed we give the better.
TT #389 and #1040 would be nice, but they've been at the top of our priority list for a while. 20:51
Anyone else know any more? Coke? particle?
Okay, let's table that. Next question? 20:53
mikehh 2) when working with ops_pct branch there were a lot of problems related to nqp-rx testing as perl or pir which it should not 20:54
loads of tests in codetest made the wrong assumptions there 20:55
any idewas on that - I intend to look at it this week 20:56
ideas
chromatic Assumptions how, about filetype?
cotto_work For starters you could have the pod test ignore any files that start with a parrot-nqp shebang
That'd eliminate some false positives.
mikehh some eq it uses .pm extensions and so on but has a #! nqp which is not checked 20:57
and coda tests with .t also ignores the #! line
and pod is different 20:58
cotto_work Do you feel comfortable patching the tests? 20:59
particle may/june for r*, is the latest
cotto_work has a meeting at now:00, will backscroll 21:00
mikehh cotto_work: I am going to work on it but may need help
cotto_work ok. I'll be around tonight. kid51 could also likely help
cotto_work goes
chromatic Does that answer your question, mikehh? 21:01
mikehh I think so
chromatic Other questions?
21:02 mikehh joined
particle i followed up with the r* team based on last week's discussion, did you cover that, c? 21:02
...since you were there.
the discussion being, what does r* need from parrot for release
chromatic I didn't cover that, want to? 21:03
particle it seems the answer is that we're currently working on the important stuff
mikehh that's more or less what I was asking
chromatic Other questions? 21:08
Okay, let's wrap it up then. Thanks everyone. 21:09
