| whiteknight | WHAT I DID | 19:23 | |
| * GCI Tasks. Lots of new code from GCI. Some of it already merged, some of it waiting in branches for review | |||
| * Hunting around for new GCI tasks. The deadline was yesterday. All tasks we create now will be published on Dec 16th. Ideas very much welcome, we want to have an overwhelming supply of tasks for students in December for winter break. | |||
| * Worked on Rosella. New Random library and CommandLine library are now stable. new Date library for date/time stuff. Working on Dumper library to get that ready for prime-time. | |||
| * Updating Rosella to use the new Winxed "inline" feature. | |||
| * Following along intently with NQP and Rakudo changes, especially new NCI and 6model improvements. Am itching to start porting some of those ideas down into Parrot if possible. | |||
| WHAT I WILL DO: | |||
| * Continue with GCI stuff. | |||
| * Keep working on Rosella. Want to do some real work on Dumper and Reflect libraries. | |||
| * (hopefully) making settlement on a house tomorrow. That and moving in will eat up some time this week. May be without internet access for some days. | |||

| Util | Hello | 19:34 | |
| NotFound | Hola | 19:35 | |
| whiteknight | hello | ||
| the week has been very good. GCI is kicking butt | |||
| Util | Seeing traffic on NCI (dynlib/libffi) makes me wonder if NCI Documentation could be a GCI task. | 19:36 | |
| whiteknight | the documentation-related tasks have not been too popular so far | ||
| early adopters might just be coders | |||
| Util | understandable. | ||
| cotto | Could be. Documentation doesn't seem important until you don't have any. | 19:37 | |
| NotFound | I'll suggest that experiments with dynlib can be made using dynpmcs, better than compromising the main system. | 19:43 | |
| cotto | NotFound: that's generally a good starting point. +1 | 19:44 | |
| I look forward to seeing how that goes. | 19:46 | ||
| Util | +1, until the experiments are done. | ||
| whiteknight | if NQP can load it dynamically through dynops, we cna do the the same thing | 19:49 | |
| in fact, I say we get our guns, rush in there, and steal their dynops | 19:50 | ||
| and when the dynops workout, we move them into regular ops | |||
| cotto | Does anyone want to lead that charge? | 19:55 | |
| alvis | I'm sorry, but I'm running outta time here. May I ask a question? | 20:02 | |
| cotto | alvis: sure | ||
| alvis | Thanks. Are there any objections to creating a Parrot VM Specification? A document similar to the JVM Specification, but, of course, for Parrot. | ||
| cotto | in the future, say "q1q" to queue a question and we'll know that you've got something to ask. | 20:03 | |
| That's appropriate for a stable VM. It's likely to become outdated fairly quickly. | |||
| alvis | Ok, didn't know that. | 20:04 | |
| hmmm ..., ok. I'll have to think about that then. | 20:06 | ||
| cotto | I do like the idea of a more spec-like organization of our current documentation. | ||
| alvis | I *think* I can come up with something. I'll write up a plan and let folks offer their opinions. | 20:07 | |
| cotto | alvis++ | 20:08 | |
| Util | +1 | ||
| alvis | Ok. I'm sorry, but I gtg. | 20:10 | |
| cotto | Any other questions? | ||
| whiteknight | I think we need 6model before we can import NQP's new nci ops directly | ||
| so we should focus on 6model first. the most gains are to be had there | 20:11 | ||
| cotto | How stable has that been? Last I checked, it was still being changed in nqp. | 20:19 | |
| It'll be something to look into this week. | 20:20 | ||
| Is there anything else before we call it a wrap? | 20:21 | ||
| whiteknight | that's the problem, I think it still is changing | ||
| no, let's wrap it | |||
| cotto | It's a wrap. | 20:23 | |
