pmichaud good afternoon 19:37
Util Hi, pmichaud
pmichaud I can report: I added methods to the existing EvalPMC type to emulate enough of PackfileView so that NQP can now run with either. 19:38
Util I was just about to ask: PackfileView-compatible methods added to EvalPMC - are these being used successfully now? 19:39
pmichaud in a branch of NQP, yes.
as soon as Parrot releases with the new methods in place it'll merge to trunk 19:40
Util Does this mean that Rakudo will require Parrot v5.9.0 for Parrot-based builds after the next Rakudo release?
pmichaud Yes.
Util (5.9.0 releasing today)
pmichaud now on phone
Util ok
I assume that after the next Rakudo release, the discussion will resume (from last week's meeting) about PackFile and EvalPMC. 19:48

pmichaud Once Parrot release is done today, we'll verify that NQP and Rakudo (with the new patches) work properly with Parrot 5.9.0. 20:14
after those patches go in place, then yes, future versions of Rakudo require at least 5.9.0 to run. 20:15
Parrot should be able to then convert from EvalPMC to PackfileView whenever is convenient for Parrot.
I.e., NQP + Rakudo will run with either.
