whiteknight Extra short report: Almost nothing. Very busy. EOR
cotto did: finally got my notes on the github wiki (github.com/parrot/parrot/wiki/CPU-...omparison) 19:27
todo: explain what they mean, fill out the remaining CPUs
also, GSoC mentor summit and VMIL this weekend and Monday.
blockers: serious lack of tuits

dukeleto is doing a release and ran into a coredumping test on master on 64bit linux (t/library/pg.t) 19:29
gist.github.com/1296368 is the backtrace of the coredumpt test, which is currently blocking a release 19:30
nine did: zero overhead (tm) patch for green_threads. Discovering the reasons for M0 (and stopping there before re-inventing M0). EOR
cotto Howdy. 19:31
benabik dukeleto: I would also suggest holding the release until we at least look at the exit problem moritz mentioned. I'm looking into that one.
Util Still tuitless with $WORK EOR 19:32
cotto++ # CPU table 19:33
NotFound ENOHELO? 19:34
cotto It got buried.
benabik hello! 19:35

Util Hello 19:35
cotto the x86 build looks good, at least
dukeleto benabik: any time horizon for how long to hold the release?
marcel_r: howdy
marcel_r dukeleto: Hi! 19:36
benabik dukeleto: I need probably another ~20 just to get a new Rakudo running. I was very out of date.
cotto Do we have a plan to figure out the release? 19:38
I won't have access to an x86_64 machine until this evening. 19:39
benabik cotto: I'm trying to see what's up with a couple Rakudo test failures. 19:40
cotto benabik: ok. Are they related to the coredump that dukeleto mentioned?
benabik cotto: No.
(I don't think so anyway)
dukeleto cotto: q1q 19:41
dukeleto just enabled github issues on parrot.git github.com/parrot/parrot/issues
cotto dukeleto: go ahead with your question
dukeleto so i can create issues for all the things that bug me in the release process
cotto: I would like to start organizing a migration to Github issues. I suggest closing all TT's older than X years (I suggest 1 or 2) then programmatically migrating the remaining TT's to github issues 19:42
cotto: andy lester seems to be on board to help
cotto: i am not volunteering to do it all, but I am volunteering to oversee and organize other people helping do it
cotto: i outlined why i think this is important in a recent email to parrot-dev 19:43
cotto dukeleto: ok. I'd love to jump in but I'm up to my eyeballs in things already.
dukeleto cotto: but basically, it isn't the shiny new technology, but the social features of github that I feel are necessary for Parrot as a community to go forward 19:44
cotto: should we just do a simple vote? Does anybody think that it is a horrible idea?
cotto +1 to doing it
dukeleto is obviously +1

cotto Between this and the wiki, we may eventually shut trac down altogether. 19:45
Util +1, because of the social aspects of GitHub, which will hopefully make us more... socialable to interested almost-participants 19:46
NotFound +1
benabik If we shut down trac, we should archive the tickets and wiki somewhere.
cotto benabik: good point. I think my bringing that up was premature. 19:47
one thing at a time
dukeleto benabik: the idea is the migrate what is useful from the wiki to a github wiki. That is in-progress.
benabik Things we don't see as useful now may become useful later. Archiving it should be fairly cheap and saves issues later.
whiteknight I am very much +1 to moving away from trac in any fashion
dukeleto benabik: sounds fine to me 19:48
cotto dukeleto: how hard do you think it'll be to get out a release that passes its tests on x86_64? 19:52
dukeleto do we need to continue this vote on parrot-dev, or can we call it good?
cotto I'm content to call it good.
dukeleto cotto: hard to say. This looks like a GC bug. I could skip that test file, but the bug could manifest in some other test on different machines
cotto (papering it over)-- 19:53
dukeleto cotto: yeah, that doesn't make me feel good either
cotto dukeleto: any luck bisecting? 19:54
dukeleto cotto: haven't tried that yet, was doing more of the release process 19:55
cotto: will try that now
here is the issue for the coredumping test, if people want to help: github.com/parrot/parrot/issues/168 19:56
whiteknight I can try to look at it tonight 20:00
benabik is afk-ish: in class 20:01
whiteknight it looks like this meeting is dieing down. Call it quits?
