Hello! Who all is in attendance? 13:30
lizmat is lurking as usual 13:32
Util \\o
Coke lurk. 13:47
rurban A bit late. I'll check the smolder fixes soon. Got some good runs from different machines 13:51
Util rurban: Thanks! 13:52
Coke is the person who requested the new meeting time here? ;) 13:55
I ask ONLY to be snarky. :) 13:56
rurban I haven't seen him today. 13:57
Ok, my report:
Done:
* released 6.9.0 without smoke-me/coro-return-gh1106 (not yet ready)
* finally got a 64-bit big-endian machine running, even 2 now.
* merged and closed: smoke-me/mips64-gh1110 (and same for ppc64),
smoke-me/run-pbc-gh1107, smoke-me/trace-NDEBUG-gh1105, disable-static-1104,
smoke-me/illegal-escape-gh1103, rurban/coros-gh564, rurban/coro-reset-gh564
smoke-me/null-call-gh1024, and some more.
Work:
* smoke-me/coro-return-gh1106
* rurban/lexqnames-gh1095 .lex quoting the simple way (another hack on top of more hacks - not ready)
rurban/lexqnames-gh1095-dev rewrote imcc string handling, proper quoting handling (not ready)
I know now how coro autoreset semantics should look like, but the right implementation is still tricky 13:59
but it's getting along. next will be immc fixes for string quoting
Util Coke: I answer only to be thorough: Chirag popped in after the last meeting was over, to decry missing it, due to his new (hopefully temporary) 12-hour workday. 14:00
rurban he said 10-12 hrs a day. I'm helping with with his new project remove autoboxing on method calls
Util rurban: what OS(s) are your 64-bit big-endian machines using? 14:02
rurban mips and powerpc, both debian 14:03
Util Great!
rurban sparc64 has no proper bios yet, and haven't tried arm64 yet. should work even better there
mips got some issues, ppc64 is straightforward
arm64 can run even natively via binfmt 14:04
we found serious GC trouble on mips with low memory, and this is repro on all machines with very low memory
either in PGE (parrot) or in NQP 6model 14:05
but it can happen even with lot of tracing on (string pressure) 14:06
2 new tickets for this
and —floatval="long double" is still having problems. I worked on a branch to fix that some time ago. 14:07
I'll check later and update the ticket or file a new one
Still got no DSL, just phone tethering
Util That "branch some time ago", is it still around, or merged? 14:08
rurban native_pbc2 was the name 14:09
too busy with coro's right now
Util I see it, thanks.
rurban but native_pbc2 is doing too much. I can check later with the new machines. but all our native_pbc tests worked fine 14:10
so just float, long double and __float128 do not work yet
so it's not really important 14:11
yes, and I need some 32bit smokes for `smoke-me/labs-gh1111` 14:12
and I prepared a new vms branch smoke-me/vms-gh866, to be tested by mvorl
good catch for the smolder problem. I tried a similar approach, but I wonder why I have not found it. 14:13
I think I just quoted it, but didn't replace the space
clang-3.6 is pretty good 14:15
Util rurban: Thanks. I dug in deep and found where YAML::Tiny used to not-quote keys with spaces (since the YAML std does not require them), but then started quoting as a side-effect of fixing a unprintable-character bug.
Smolder chokes on quoted keys, when the key is in the "extra data".
Is clang-3.6 released? 14:17
rurban nope 14:19
Util OK 14:20
Anything else to discuss? From anyone? 14:21
OK then. Thanks, everyone! 14:24
Meeting adjourned.

Chirag This is embarrassing, since I asked for the the change... 5.30 pm, I was still at work.. I will seek permission to install an irc client on the company's system 16:40
I asked for Friday, since 7.30 pm GMT = 1 am IST and I could have stayed up as late as possible... Irrespective, please feel free to fall back to the previous time, if that was more convenient :) ...
rurban This time is better for me 17:06
you can install irssi, it's minimal
Chirag yes, i will do that.. I also found this irc.lc/magnet/parrot .. its web-chat 17:19
