masak: do you have any idea for a 6advent blog post? I'm considering continuing my blogpost from last year (on quickcheck/6check), but I'd gladly take another topic..... 11:54
masak hm 12:34
has anyone written about refactoring as seen from a Perl 6 lens?
Ven mh. that sounds a bit vague, I'm not too sure what you mean? 13:11
masak not sure actually 13:12
sometimes I get the feeling that Perl 6 is quite refactoring-friendly
considering that I do most things in it without an IDE
there are numerous ways to write one thing, and usually it's quite pleasant to rewrite it from one way to another
through the years I've come to think of those transitions between working states of the program as being themselves quite interesting and worthy of study 13:13
Ven well, I think we have enough talks and blogposts about grammars and subsets. 14:04
I really liked your "everyday Perl 6" talk btw. I wanted to write something akin to that...
masak oh, cool -- the Swiss Perl Workshop one? 14:05
Ven yes. 14:18
"it's not about the crazy one-liners, it's about actual DWIMs" 14:19
masak yeah
when I started in ~2005 with Perl 6, it was definitely the crazy "cool" features that pulled me in
but that's not why I use Perl 6 nowadays 14:20
junctions are a good example. I don't hate them 100%, but I use them *very* sparingly
Ven don't tell me. I started learning it because an advent calendar blogpost had typo'd "[&&]" as "[&&}" and I wanted to learn a language crazy enough to have non-matching brackets. :P
not sure how to write something about this without plagiarizing your document. :P 14:21
masak haha 14:44
if you feel you have a topic there, go for it
