tbrowder .tell ugexe I just added module META6::To::Man to the ecosystem. I'm lobbying for it to be used by zef to create and install man pages. My module can build a rudimentary one if one is not provided by the author. 21:13
leont Note to self: 2017.09 is out, so I can release a new TAP::Harness :-) 21:15
japhb tbrowder: link? 21:22
tbrowder japhb: github:tbrowder/META6-To-Man-Perl6 21:26
[Coke] tbrowder: is there any sample output there? 21:46
tbrowder no, but I will add some. If you clone it and l 21:49
...And run the Makefile it will generate one. I will add it to the repo. 21:50
ugexe tbrowder: how does it deal with invalid characters in path name, multiple versions/auth, precompilation of pod, and other problems addressed by CURs? How does it stay in sync with the modules that are installed and tracked by rakudo? 22:04
remember that zef doesn't really install... it does everything but. CUR handles installation, and zef acts as a constraint solver to get to that point 22:07
timotimo do you people think i should ask for a lot of feedback from the toolchain side of things for the work i'm planning to do as part of my grant? 22:11
ugexe otherwise some type of post-install hook could fire it if installed, but it'd still have to deal with tracking what it has copied to where, invalid file names, etc
tbrowder ugexe: I can't answer all those questions--but I will try to take care of at least some of them. The whole subject as you have pointed out needs discussion, and that's why I'm floating this. The module is effectively a strawman for now. 22:12
I'm working on getting an auto-generated troff doc for the README and the repo... 22:13
ugexe timotimo: what is it for? 22:17
timotimo news.perlfoundation.org/2017/09/gra...l-6-p.html
basically improving the two profilers we have to make them more useful to people unfamiliar with the kind of thing 22:18
i thought perhaps, since it's a "tool", i should ask the toolchain-focused folks if you have wishes or thoughts 22:19
ugexe i havent used the profiler enough to comment 22:20
timotimo one thing that prevents the profiler from being really useful is multiple threads aren't supported very well at the mo' 22:29
tbrowder all: i have updated the repo and added the troff file for the module. It's linked into the README. 22:30
Nite all: o/ 22:34
