To "lock in" variable's values in regexes, you have to make it using EVAL. e.g. $foo = "rx/$bar/".EVAL; Otherwise, if the value of $bar changes, $foo will act in accordance with $bar's new value which bombs spectacularly if $bar is a loop variable. . 14:41
