sorear pre-report: 17:18
did (spec): discussed val() with jnthn, TimToady, etc; a couple spec changes resulted from our effort 17:19
started prototyping val 17:20
other random stuff: :(:$foo, :$bar?) bug in STD fixed; has $x; :$!x parameters; multi exporting fixes; * = 5 17:22
added anon sub foo() { ... foo ... } support, based on an idea from GlitchMr++
my $.x 17:23
TimToady pictures sorear++ reading through miles of git logs... :) 17:24
sorear WILL DO: try to implement TimToady's latest ideas on <4+3i>; declarators; val() in general

TimToady: the best part is that half of the commits aren't even mine
...woah, v13-300 17:25

Did:
* Implemented chmod, chdir, IO.copy, cwd, and a very crude $*CWD for niecza
* Stole printf and categorize from Rakudo for niecza
* Near complete rewrite of S12-attributes/defaults.t
* Modified niecza to support falling back to Real.Bridge for operations with unknown Real types
* Add FatRat tests for trig test suite
* Got a good bit more of roast working with niecza
* Got panda to pass all its tests under niecza (Does not actually work yet, alas.)
* Blogged to wrap up Pi spigot
Plan:
* Make panda work completely with niecza
* Blog post on Real.Bridge

TimToady wowee 17:33
colomon probably most of the really important stuff I did was prodding sorear++ to implement and/or fix things. ;) 17:35
jnthn back 17:40
colomon o/ jnthn 17:41
jnthn I...did stuff :)

colomon \\o/ 17:42
jnthn Guess I needn't repeat the last week's commit list ;)

jnthn Priority for me is fixing up the backtracking into subrules stuff 17:43
I really, really want that in Star.
colomon +1
jnthn I can fix the bug I understand, which may in turn fix many of the tests.
PerlJam And Star will be .... sometime before the end of the month?
TimToady
.oO(which month?)
PerlJam jnthn knows which month ;) 17:44
jnthn Sadly, I slept awfully last night, am tired from the day's teaching, and probably won't be able to hack a load more on it.
Star release is next week. I've fixed Zavolaj as much as I wanted, and am pretty sure I will nail the backtracking at the weekend at the latest.
Do want to make sure MiniDBI works again, but not expecting that to make long. 17:45
Got a relatively free weekend and next week ain't so busy.
PerlJam jnthn++
jnthn (Ain't so busy at work. May be pretty busy with Perl 6 stuff. ;-))
We're meant to have a Rakudo compiler release tomorrow. 17:46
PerlJam Anyone heard from pmichaud? I texted him after the new year and he said he was hoping to be back on p6/irc soon, but I haven't heard from him since
jnthn PerlJam: Then you've heard from him more recently than me. 17:47
PerlJam: I last saw pmichaud here, before I went for Christmas break.
(here = on IRC)
moritz oh, it's already #phasering 17:48
jnthn :)
PerlJam Well, I hope he and Paula are doing okay. I'll probably give him a call to see what's up.
moritz should we delay the compiler release until regex stuff work, and we're convinced the NCI is good enough? 17:49
jnthn PerlJam: If you do, plesae pass on my best wishes to both of them.
PerlJam jnthn: will do
TimToady and all of us
PerlJam aye, that too
moritz aye
jnthn moritz: I dunno.
moritz: How much stick do we get for delaying a compiler release a couple of days? :)
TimToady I might have a few carrots laying around... 17:50
moritz jnthn: I don't know or care
jnthn: as long as we release in January, I'm fine 17:51
jnthn moritz: OK, then I'll join you in not knowing or caring.
PerlJam delaying the compiler release a few days seems fine to me.
what moritz said.
jnthn Yeah, it only needs to be to the weekend.
(Mostly, teaching is tiring, and laptop use aggravates my RSI.) 17:52
PerlJam on the phone with pmichaud now
he says thanks for the wishes and he'll be back on IRC on monday 17:53
jnthn ok :)
.oO( pmichaud will get tuits again once I nail regex backtracking stuff :P )
17:54
moritz jnthn: then he can fix all the list-y stuff :-) 17:56
jnthn \\o/
Yeah, that would be nice :)
I don't mind having jumped into the regex engine really, though. It's increased the bus number.
And I can add les features. :) 17:57
PerlJam pmichaud sounded well. He's just been real busy with things of late. 17:58
(bigger bus number)++
jnthn Beyond R*, my priorities are qbootstrap, fixing bugs, adding features. 18:00
I really, really need to dig into the serialization stuff too.
[Coke] has a late mini report. 18:03
ooh, it's quiet. niecza has, at two instances this week, passed more spec tests than rakudo. 18:04
[Coke] did actually write some code for niecza this week (splice, can't remember anything else.), mainly just looking for unfudge opportunities. 18:05

sorear [Coke]++
[Coke] oh, I also did some rakudo ticket queue wrangling. 18:07
[Coke] waves to pmichaud in the logs!
sorear (pm on monday) \\o/ 18:10
colomon That reminds me, I wanted to again pitch my idea of having regular code reviews for roast..... 18:11
[Coke] I assume folks are reviewing changes as they go in. 18:12
but there some crufty stuff in there for sure. (old splice tests, e.g.) 18:13

colomon nod. moritz++ and I found S12-attributes/defaults.t was completely broken according to the current spec 18:14
moritz colomon: +1 to regular roast reviews 18:15
kboga did: pick rakudo's LHF of wiring up "binding to array elements" (jnthn++ # preliminary compiler support & bugfix of "MD narrowness calculation for native types") 18:17
[Coke] colomon: +1. 18:18
colomon ponders setting up a Perl 6 Roast Review blog on wordpress... 18:19
sorear what would it do?
sorear is still trying to figure out what to do for the 'niecza blogging' idea 18:20
colomon I was thinking it might kick off a review in the text of a post, and then comments could hash out the details. 18:21
just one possible way of handling it, another might be to set a time and an IRC channel
jnthn -> finding dinner, bbl 18:22
colomon afk # going to try skiing on what's left of the snow 18:24
PerlJam colomon: have fun! 18:25

masak whoa! pm coming back!? 18:53
19:38 masak left
tadzik \\o/ 19:39
TimToady well, maybe...we must reserve pm's right to have things go not quite according to plan... 19:47
PerlJam no plan survives contact with reality 19:53
tadzik post-report: minor test hunting in Rakudo. Plans: survive 19:55
