[Coke] japhb: which widget would recommend I start with if I just want to show a single bit of text that I can update dynamically and perhaps a line of instructions? 21:14
japhb If it's just plain (unstyled) text, then just a PlainText will do. 21:39
[Coke] no need for colors or anything at this point. 21:40
japhb Yeah, just PlainText then 21:41
[Coke] There is a lot in Terminal::Widgets and it is not clear to me how to write my own example. Will give it a shot and then probably ask for guidance. 21:51
^C not supported by default? 21:53
yah, this is kind of inscrutable to me. :| 22:01
Any pointers to docs that I should check out in the Terminal::Widgets repo?
japhb What parts are inscrutable? Or is it just pure overload? Do I need a "Just want to get started" doc? 22:17
FWIW, work on T-W is fairly demand-driven. Most of the recent development has been to support patrickb++'s debugger work, and to fully incorporate the work from his patches. So please do make requests. :-) 22:32
[Coke] I looked in examples, and am not sure why I'm passingin a class object instead of an instance of the class, or why I have to inherit from toplevel, what I should override in my class... 22:55
so I guess a getting started doc.
japhb Oh, that's interesting. That definitely helps. Mind if I turn this conversation into an issue? 22:57
Or pieces of it, at least 22:58
[Coke] Sure
thanks! 23:01

japhb [Coke]: github.com/japhb/Terminal-Widgets/issues/30 -- is that good coverage? If that list is missing anything, don't hesitate to add to it. :-) 23:21
