lucs Goood morning. 15:04
moritz_ good localtime() 15:06
lucs :) 15:07
Darn. My LaTeX setup is crufty. 15:08
moritz_ ie normal.
lucs pronik is using features that are found in more recent distros only. 15:09
I'll get it working, eventually :)
moritz_ I'm of two minds about it
one is that it would be great of most people could build the book easily
the other is that we're writing a freakin' book, and it needs proper typesetting 15:10
lucs Yeah. I tend to go for the latter.
moritz_ and that not using the best tools available for the task would be waste of volunteer's effort
lucs Since frequent releases are planned, a user could always download a recent version (if we make them available somewhere). 15:11
It could be troublesome for the authors who want to see what their recent writings look like though, if they're not set up to build it correctly. 15:12

pronik it seems the minted package will solve all our formatting problems in the end 20:04
moritz_ what is "minted"?
pronik I'll commit something today to the branch
www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/lat...ib/minted/
it takes pygments to format the code
pygments.org/
I assume pygments will have perl6 highlighting some day 20:05
which I cannot be sure of with any latex package
lucs pronik: I just committed a 'fixquotes' branch, for what it's worth.
By the way, I needed to install KOMA-script (for 'tocstyle') and version 1.4 of 'listings', and now the book builds fine. 20:06
pronik lucs: I'll take a look
lucs It looks pretty good :)
I mean your version. 20:07
pronik lucs: wait till I'm done with minted ;)
lucs :-)
PerlJam++ Thanks for the git help! 20:09
moritz_ if you can find a way to bundle non-standard (or very new) latex packages in the book, that would make the lives of many authors easier
but it might be too much effort, no idea how picky latex is in that respect
anyway, you two rock :-) 20:10
pronik moritz_: I already do, minted is not available in packaged form yet
moritz_ oh. /me impressed 20:11
pronik it's just not committed yet

lucs Wow. Spiffy! 23:27
pronik++ Looks great! 23:34
pronik gonna commit in the next couple of minutes 23:37
lucs I just posted the URL to #perl6, it's just so good :) 23:38
Is it based on minted?
pronik yes 23:39
lucs Did you need to muck with the quotes, or are they okay by default with minted?
pronik yes and no -- I'm using xelatex now, which makes it rather easy. Seems to work even without your patch :) 23:44
lucs Simpler, better :) 23:45
pronik people in 23:47
#perl6 don't seem to care much about the book :)
changes up, another challenge for you to compile ;)
lucs Okay :)
pronik and I notice I failed at submitting correct code ;) 23:48
lucs Oopsie :) 23:49
pronik correct stuff up shortly
lucs No problem.
pronik oh, one more thing -- I've deactivated your margins for now because it didn't work for me properly. Could you please look into it and correct them? 23:52
ok, code's up 23:53
still, a lot of tweaking to do left
but it looks much better now :) 23:54
lucs Ok. The margin values probably needed correction anyway.
It does!
pronik (than the 2010-06)
and now I'm going to bed -- it's 2 am again, for the third day in a row
lucs The first 90% is done, now, to the other 90% :)
pronik correct :)
lucs Great work sir!
pronik if you see moritz_ later, show him the stuff ;) 23:55
lucs Sleep well, and talk to you soon.
You bet!
