colomon Last 7 days: 18:36
* Packaged up Math::BigInt nicely
* Started on Math::FatRat
* Reported related bugs
* Got TimToady++'s permission to add a gcd function to p6
* Wondered a lot about simplifying rationals
* Blogged repeatedly on these subjects
Next 7 days:
* Blog on the issues involved simplifying rationals
* Try to research how Python handles BigInts
* Try to research prior art on efficient rational implementations
takadonet just in time to see colomon post! 18:37
colomon * Actually get around to adding gcd to p6 and Rakudo.

moritz_ will probably late for #phasers, due to lunch 18:53
what I did
* renamed some classes in the nqp/nom command line parser - not yet added to nqp
* some tweaks to the IRC logs
what I will do: sleep more :-) 18:54

mberends moritz_: tonight you'll be late for lunch too ;-)
moritz_ erm, s/lunch/supper/ :-) 18:55

TimToady is it over already? darn, that was quick... 19:01
mberends was offline and has nothing to report :-(
Util mberends: "nothing" *is* a report. Info delivered and received. :) 19:03
pmichaud I did lots of discussions with Parrot folks regarding NQP and Rakudo needs from Parrot
Fixed a couple of bugs, resolved RT tickets
closed a lot of Trac tickets for Parrot
created the new nqp repository
posted announcements to pmthium.com 19:04
discussed quantifier changes to regexes with TimToady
eor, I think
TimToady I am recovering from India, yellow fever vaccine, forced server migration, and discussing quantifier changes with pmichaud :) 19:05
mberends ouch! 19:06
pmichaud (and we're preparing here for a likely *fifth* school snow-day closure)
mberends I'm very excited and motivated by jnthn++'s recent nqp and 6model work. 19:07
TimToady to
o
mberends question: since I like to document things, what part of NQP or Rakudo guts is most in need of documentation? Please don't say "everything". ;-) 19:10
pmichaud at this point I'd focus on NQP, I think.
smaller pieces.
documenting 6model (if it hasn't been done already) would be awesome
even just coming up with a HACKING guide to tell people where/how to hack would be excellent 19:11
I just updated nqp's readme about 10 minutes ago -- kid51++ pointed out that it was woefully wrong and out of date
mberends ok, thanks. 6model is a little bit documented, but I think the source repo would be a better place than the 6guts blog. 19:12
pmichaud easier to update there 19:13
blogs are good for marking progress/updates, but we still want to have something in the source tree too :)
Util When working in NQP for the first time a few months ago, it seemed that every other thing I wanted to do, I had to search other NQP code to find an example. More/better docs would have been helpful. 19:17
pmichaud yes, we definitely need an intro to nqp 19:18
I keep wanting to write one, but getting tuit-distracted elsewhere
PerlJam pmichaud: you even have a repo for an NQP book don't you? 19:19
pmichaud so, anything that might start to explain nqp itself in terms of examples would be helpful
yes, there's a (largely empty) repo
PerlJam Now sounds like a good time to start writing it :)
pmichaud agreed
TimToady are you planning for nqp to have real ltm any time soonish? could probably borrow some ideas from sorear++ 19:21
pmichaud yes
I need to review sorear's code a bit, but it seems very likely 19:22
Util Would LTM in NQP mean that STD in Rakudo is on the horizon? 19:24
pmichaud it means rakudo will be even closer to STD, yes.
TimToady what's your alititude?
*altitude
pmichaud std itself has some cheats that need ironing out, too :) 19:25
Util I hover at 3-6 months when telling other about Rakudo.
TimToady in other words, your horizon is really on Mars or so :) 19:26
