[Coke] blin run finally started. 13:33
the whateverable build for 2026.02 "does not look like a tar archive" 13:37
per blin
trying again, hopefully a flapper. :| 13:38

[Coke] I am not comfortable doing the release until we can get that resolved.

okay…

committable6 AlexDaniel, ¦2026.02: «No build for this commit»
AlexDaniel okay, now we can just wait for it…
I might as well auto-wipe all archives that are 0 bytes I guess
[Coke] did you trigger the build behind the scenes or was it one of the sends here?
AlexDaniel I rm-ed the archive on the server
wanna have access to that? 14:06
[Coke] I mean, I guess we should have a bus number > 1 14:07
Doesn't have to be me, but probably shouldn't just be you.
also: thanks again for all your work. :)
also also: what summoned you? was it the ticket? 14:08
AlexDaniel yeah, I get email notification for the whateverable repo
there were 61 broken archives in total, I just deleted them, so it should trigger a rebuild of whatever these commits were 14:09

AlexDaniel … okay maybe not yet

[Coke] what was the #channel that had all the bots? 14:10
AlexDaniel #whateverable 14:11
[Coke]: github.com/coke.keys which one?
timo looking forward to finding out what we can do with IRCv3 features in the whateverables once libera.chat turns some of the features on 14:13
the first thing that comes to mind in general is multiline for Geth. all the whateverable bots could use the reply client tag to associate their responses with the message that triggered them
coleman Coke is blin trying to test something that's no longer there github.com/Raku/infra/issues/115
[Coke] AlexDaniel: the first one, I guess? 14:14
coleman: it's not using the tar files from the website - it's using prebuilt versions managed under whateverable. 14:15
/committable
TIL I learned about that weird .keys url! 14:17
AlexDaniel: thoughts about giving coleman access instead (he's one of the infra folks for raku)
AlexDaniel of course 14:18
what's his github handle?
coleman dontlaugh 14:19
AlexDaniel coleman: nice, join #whateverable for some instructions 14:20
coleman okay I have to do my day job for a while but I've joined 14:22
ty
AlexDaniel generally speaking you shouldn't need to do anything there often, but just in case both of you have access now :) 14:25

AlexDaniel yay
[Coke] YAY 14:26
[Coke] restarts bin 14:27
blin
AlexDaniel [Coke]: just as a trick, you could also run blin on something like 2026.02^, as the release commit is usually just a changelog change or whatever
blin can run between any range of commits, doesn't have to be exactly the release one 14:28
[Coke] yah, my backup plan was to find the commit immediately after it and go from there, hoping that one wasn't bad. :)
AlexDaniel on any range I mean
good :)
[Coke] Sure, but it really should be the release or we're not quite testing what we need.
but sure, close is better than not 14:29
Anyway, running on my azure vm now. (next step, find a cheaper way to do this, and/or setup the VM so I can completely destroy it and not pay for it in the off weeks.) 14:30
AlexDaniel if anyone is wondering what I'm up to nowadays, I have launched this project a week ago, it's for social dancing: danz.ly/ 🕺💃 Also I broke my leg 2 days ago -_- '=D 14:31
[Coke] Yikes, hope it's a quick heal. :|
... is it a coicidence it's showing me things local to me? 14:32
AlexDaniel yeah, fracture without displacement, I should be good soon (compared to other fractures)
[Coke]: it is very much intentional :)
[Coke] guessing it's IP based guessing?
AlexDaniel yep 14:33
saving you 2 clicks :)
timo whew, lucky that it'll heal easily
AlexDaniel the downside is that many actual users don't even click anywhere at all – they just open the page, scroll down a little and leave as this is all the info they were looking for :D 14:34
[Coke] blin run starting. _what the hell is kazmath?_
timo I like the name 14:35
[Coke] I know someone whose nickname was kaz, but this is not their math library. ah, it's a jj module.
⏳ 51 out of 2419 modules processed (2.1%)
AlexDaniel also, in that project I learned how to use billions and billions of AI tokens to process large datasets… ping me if you have a use case for Raku and I'll tell you all about it :) 14:37
without breaking the bank obviously
timo ah, of course you just use poorly set up customer service chat widgets on all manner of random business websites 14:38
AlexDaniel haha no-no, it's legit, nothing like that
releasable6 Next release in ≈4 days and ≈3 hours. There are no known blockers. Please log your changes in the ChangeLog: github.com/rakudo/rakudo/wiki/ChangeLog-Draft 15:00

ah, no / did. :| 16:16
AlexDaniel yeah I hate when that happens :D 16:29
disbot2 <melezhik.> Could it be that 6095 issue only happens on Rakudo from nxadm-pkgs repo repo ? 16:37

[Coke] restarting blin 16:53
didn't help that this is the same box I do the release from, and while /blin is on its own mount point, the release dir was on / 17:03
timo melezhik, it's possible. combination of compiler (and distro provided default flags) and libc and all that can very much cause trouble 17:25
disbot2 <melezhik.> I just confirmed from other user it happens on rakubrew Raku as well , added details to the ticket 17:32
<melezhik.> I know I can revert changes in Sparrow6 and handle malformed utf8 piping to iconv, but it does not seem right and also iconv buffers output when get piped and does not show the last chunk of its output which kinda sucks 17:35
timo the output you're seeing is normally completely harmless 17:40
for a crashing rakudo, can you start it with `gdb raku -Mblabla etcetc` and first thing to do is `break malloc` `break calloc` (it may tell you it can't find it and ask if you want to wait until a library loads it in which case you say yes), then "c" to start (if it says the program isn't running yet, use "r" instead of "c") and see if it breaks anywhere, and if it breaks, get the backtrace with 17:42
`bt`?
AFK
disbot2 <melezhik.> Well the problem is while I managed reproduced the bug , it’s still random , there is no guarantee it happens every time … sigh 17:53
timo one thread I'm pulling on is maybe some code is using mimalloc and some code is using glibc malloc, which it could try calling mi_free on a pointer that was created by malloc or free on a pointer that was created by mi_malloc, and that will corrupt the heap and then all bets are off 18:54
normally you need to have something use NativeCall for that 18:55
that's why i asked you to `break malloc` in a gdb session, that would tell us immediately if something is calling malloc. also, should probably `break free` 18:56
i filed an issue on rakudo-pkg that moarvm should be built with debug symbols 19:01
