SmokeMachine [Coke]: if you are going to implement that, please, add the orp concept to that, as the old spritz used to do (I really think that helps on reading…) 03:31
[Coke]: ORP => Optimal Recognition Point
GPT tells me it’s calculated as: `orp_index = min(4, max(1, floor(word_length / 3)))` 03:32

soverysour hello, is there a maintained benchmark suite for Raku? I'm curious to see how it evolved & maybe even check samples 13:46
nono, I mean some sort of suite not suite-making tool/library. I'm interested in getting an idea about how general performance improved in raku (rakudo/moarvm) over time, if there's such a thing 14:00

Voldenet if you're looking for some over time speed comparisons there is tux.nl/Talks/CSV6/speed4.html 15:52
but it's not exhaustive, so you may not see optimizations in any other area other than csv 15:53

soverysour I've seen that looks cool Voldenet, do you know how those visuals are generated? is it some tool that collates the individual graphs? 17:19
patrickb Is there some way to reach for the VM sha1 impl from high level raku code? 17:20
There seems to be a sha1 nqp op
"specifically built to hash source code for dependency management" 17:21
oh yes! 17:22

soverysour thanks 17:35

Voldenet I don't know what is used to generate them - data source is timing log, so you probably could make something similar with GD 17:44
if you really need to generate server-side png

japhb SmokeMachine: What are you actually using read key for? Curious about terminal use cases in the wild .... 23:08
SmokeMachine japhb: I tried Term::ReadKey and Terminal::ReadKey 23:30
[Coke] SmokeMachine: works fine here, no need to press enter. 23:32
using the first block of sample code from the readme.
mac 15.7.3 (on an m2) 23:33
SmokeMachine There was people here talking about something like spritz on terminal, I've been playing with that idea... My intention with read key, was to make it faster or slower usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/....28.28.gif 23:35
