disbot <antononcube> Who is grizzlysmit ? Is that person/entity around? 10:59
lizmat have not seen them online anywhere just yet 11:08
but yeah, they're taking the "release early, release often" a bit far 11:22

disbot <antononcube> Yeah, there many same Raku package submissions made within a short time interval -- strongly hints on using AI-agents. 11:47
<antononcube> I personally, think it is not good look for the Raku community, and it makes raku.land less informative. 11:49
lizmat it does... the easy fix would be in raku.land to not repeat identical consecutive releases 11:55
identical in the sense of the same module and the same auth/api

lizmat Not sure how we would be able to spot an AI making the submissions 11:58
I guess fez could build in a limitation of not more than say 4 updates of a distribution in 24 hours 11:59
SmokeMachine event TooFrequentlyUpload { has Str $.distro; pattern TOP { :24h <?event: :type<upload>, :distro(*.defined)> { $!distro = $<event>.distro } <event: :type<upload>, :$!distro> ** 4..* } } # using eel… :) 12:04
lizmat I think raku.land accepts PRs :-) 12:06
disbot <antononcube> Hm... I would say 4 submissions per hour, but yeah, that kind of solution is good too. 12:21
<antononcube> To be clear, my solution is/was less technological, relying on public shaming. 12:22
lizmat shaming is only in the eye of the beholder 12:23
disbot <antononcube> Yeah, ethics is hard to teach.
tbrowder the times i've made more than one release are usually memory lapses and qc problems. imho the greater problem is the duplicated visible statistics on raku.land 12:41

tadzik so use of ai agents is shamed now? ;) 13:48
I thought it's great and hits at language being cool and popular
jokes aside, sounds like a display problem if anything 13:49
fwiw metacpan doesn't deduplicate or surpress these things either: metacpan.org/recent 13:51
(see Object-Proto for example)

disbot <antononcube> @tadzik Using LLMs fine, "intensively polluting" raku.land with multiple submissions of the same package is not fine. 14:41
<antononcube> @tadzik Interesting "straw man" joke. I hope it does not characterize you. 14:43
tadzik jokes tend to not represent opinions of the speaker, yes 14:48

[Coke] rant. smart tv. I turn it on, go to youtube, am about to click on my account... a tv diaglog prompt slides in, STEALS THE CLICK, and slides out. 17:58
so I just asked it to do something (hopefully just "install pending tv update")

lizmat our Apple TV (from 2015) broke down the other day 18:27
didn't feel like having a new one in the house (we don't have 4K screens, and I don't want to have a microphone active in our house) 18:28
luckily a refurbished second hand one was quickly available *phew*

refactus I've always been very happy with a random old junker laptop plugged into a dumb screen and wireless input peripherals 19:05
lizmat yeah, that has been on my mind as well, but shelling out some € for a convenient solution with minimal work, was also very attractive to me 19:26

refactus fair enough. there is at least for me the extra steps of installing linux on the laptop and configuring everything to use bigger sizes to read further away and logging in to stuff because it's not synced to an apple account or whatnot 20:09
