SmokeMachine I’m glad to discover that most of the opinions here they’d to be more from this side than the other but it still too near to that side than I’d like (IMHO) but (now I’m probably going to say a pice of unpopular opinion) based on what I observe, it’s hard to find someone from US or Europe a bit more radical… 00:02
But maybe that’s a sampling problem from my side… 00:04

antononcube I am thinking Nasim Taleb. But, it should be more widely attributed. 12:04

Good luck! 12:06
I think you are talking about anglo-saxons. 12:08
Wasn't that Obama's role?! 12:11
There is a conjecture, that what happens politically in USA happens first UK. 12:16

ab5tract IIUC he surge of labour was post WW2 in the UK, whereas the equivalent in the US would have been FDR and the New Deal (so, earlier). I’m also fairly certain that deregulation was politically possible in the US (Carter started it, Reagan supercharged it) before it happened in the UK 14:14

antononcube So, there is a correlation? And if something politically happens in one (USA or UK), something similar should be expected in the other? 15:22

Voldenet I read that convo about politics earlier and I understand almost none of it – surprisingly I've never needed politics or history in my life, I don't even vote because I believe that without proper knowledge I shouldn't 16:47
and I don't want to be an expert on such disgusting topic as politics, it's as necessary as sewers, but there's no need to know how it actually works 16:48
lizmat unless the sewer flows over... 16:49
was in the news today: some people in NL are getting the advise to cover their toilets if the electricity goes our for an extended period?
to avoid the shit coming back (these people are living way below sea level, so are dependent on pumps keeping the sewers from overflowing) 16:50
Voldenet now this is properly scary 16:51
I can only hope that people in the know will do their best
but just in case, I'll check maps to find out if I'm above sea level ;) 16:53

ugexe in some parts of the US we have en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pittsburgh_toilet 17:16
sacrificial toilets in basements so if sewage backs up, its in an area that you don't want to be ruined
er, so its in an area that is more ideal to ruin than other areas 17:20
lizmat interesting... 17:24
fwiw, the waterboard suggestion only applies to ground flour toilets 17:25
(fwiw, they usually don't have big enough basements in these places, as that would mean your basement is basically a submarine due to ground water levels) 17:26
