timo lizmat: don't use the link like that
weekly: use this link instead of the previous one: peoplemaking.games/@timotimo/116315109141733465 09:41
notable6 timo, Noted! (weekly)
lizmat timo++
timo the link you gave will lead a user who isn't logged in to the mastodon.social instance into a "you are leaving mastodon.social!" page
lizmat I was just copying pasting what I had...
timo right, you'll want to copy the link that the date&time has for the "permalink"
lizmat guess I still am a bit of a mastodon noob
TIL
timo yeah the URL in your URL bar is for the web UI, it's as if you copied a tweetdeck.twitter.com/blabla url i guess 09:42
lizmat indeed
:-(

timo the three-dots menu also has a "copy link to post" entry 09:47

tadzik mastodon should really get its own url scheme, this UX is terrible :( 10:50
timo did you see the new "remote follow" tool? 11:06
disbot2 <simon_sibl> is there a matrix bridge for raku and raku-beginner ? 11:31
timo matrix is bridged to libera.chat by libera.chat itself as far as i know 11:32
disbot2 <simon_sibl> > As of 2023-08-05, the official Libera.Chat bridge operated by Element Matrix Services (EMS) was taken down. libera.chat/guides/matrix seems like not anymore ? 🥹 11:34
timo d'oh 11:53
if there isn't a rule against bridging ourselves, it would be good to have that 12:00
what with the discord ... everything

tadzik timo: no, I don't think I did 12:22
regarding bridging things ourselves, I think this is something that ought to be coordinated/agreed with Libera folks. I know a local hackerspace over here runs a sizable libera<->matrix bridge, so it certainly can be arranger 12:23
12:23 sibl joined
timo it's probably a good idea to find another project that would let us use their bridge for our channels, since it comes with time commitment and moderation requirements and such, as the page simon_sibl linked to mentions 12:27

refactus the only permission you need for a bridge or other bots on libera is permission of the channel ops. I don't pretend to be familiar with the implementation details, but apparently the biggest moderation problems come from letting users of your bridge connect to arbitrary channels instead of just your own...so don't do that... 13:02
obviously we already have the burden of moderating our own channels
lizmat yes, and it already *has* been an issue not being able to privmsg someone on the Discord bridge and/or kick them 13:05

refactus can you run an admin bot on the discord/matrix/whatever side? be able to tell the bot from irc across the bridge, to warn/kick/ban them on the other end? 13:10
